London physician, John Snow, found that cholera was transmitted through contaminated water adulterated by human waste. While his study of London cholera victims in 1854 proved that filthy water from the Thames was the main distributor of the disease, his incipient "germ theory" remained unconvincing to medical practioners for years to come. | |
