First morning at water cure: bathman brings the wet sheet

In this image, a sick patient takes advantage of the "water cure," or hydropathy, to cure his ailments. In this stage of treatment, he is being induced to wrap himself in a water-drenched sheet. This was one of the many tactics tried by cholera victims. | |
